We’re so excited for you guys–and for the church. Tom was Mick’s advisor in college, and we have much respect for him. He has been an encouragement to us on numerous occasions. May the Lord richly bless these years of transition. I have no doubt that you guys will do this well.

Good to have you back!

Most often when we decide what “flavor” our ministry will be, we look at that 4th culture. We ask “What is everyone else doing?”

I found the chapters on contextualization in “For the City” to be very practical.

Well said, Daniel. This sentence is golden: “Too much focus is placed on Americanizing the foreign field, suburbanizing the inner city, or patronizing the poor as if the ideal Christian is an average income, middle class American.” We have to imagine what redemption looks like within the particular culture where we are ministering rather than assume that redemption looks like us.
